My artwork – the first example posted.

This is the fresco I made in a fresco making class sponsored by the Houston Women’s Caucus for Art. The teachers were Rafael and Jesus Cueto, a father and son pair from Peru. They showed us pictures of murals they had done on the sides of large apartment buildings in Peru. Very talented men.
I didn’t understand what they said about the mixing of the cement and the lime, but it was very strange painting on wet concrete with pure ground pigment in water.
Did you know that the area that you can cover in one day, painting a fresco, before it dries, is called a giornata? That is from giorno, or jour, meaning “day”, as in “bonjour” or “Buon giorno”.
